Why be like everyone else?

I don't adore Dior or Dolce & Gabbana like what seems like everybody else.
I dislike the incredibly boring Hermes bags, and Louis Vuitton bags too. Miu Miu and Burberry's really not what I want to wear. At all.

Instead, I enjoy lesser known clothing lines and a whole lot of vintage periodes. Like the 60's and 70's. Am I weird? Nah, unless you really count the me-being-a-bit-eccentric part.
See, I do love fashion. Really and truly. I do love and cherish some designer labels too, like Anna Sui and Vivienne Westwood.

What annoys me time and time again is everyones huge obsession with enormous bags with logos all over them. And the boring ones, what's so great about them? Why would people rather want a bad, fake LV bag, instead of a ten times as beautiful - and not to mention not-fake - bag from a lesser known brand?

Why stick to one or three large brands, when there are thousands of small ones with luxurious clothing and mind-blowing accessories?

I've been finding a whole lot of movies I'd like to see lately, and I thought I'd share a few of them even though I haven't seen all of them yet. I might post some more of my incredibly huge film list later on.

- Seven Swords (Chat Gim)
I saw the beginning of it at a friends house, and downloaded it when I came home. It's so definitely on my to-buy list, and I ended up over obsessing over the character Kualo - malicious villain with a very special style and behaviour. The movie itself was incredible (although I'm not -completely- happy with it), and there was a lot of material arts goodness.

- Ab-normal Beauty (Sei mong se jun)
About a talented art student, who's not satisfied with her photographs no matter how good people think they are. After witnessing a car crash, she gets driven by a morbid wish and takes pictures of the dead victim. She becomes obsessed with death, wanting to photograph the moment of death itself.
-

- The Wizard of Oz
I believe most people have heard of this one. It's one of my favourite movies, with the witch and the singing and everything else. The story is about Dorothy Gale get swept away to the magical land of Oz by a tornado and - along with three friends she meets on the way - embarks on a quest to see the Wizard who can help her return home. And then there's the bitter green witch whom, as well as being mad at Dorothy for crash landing a house on top of her sister, is obsessed about owning the magical ruby shoes Dorothy is wearing.

Not completely gone

Let's get this straight right away; I love blogging and writing. I write blog entries, diary, short stories and essays all the time.
I just have a really short attention span. No kidding.

So, what I'm trying to say - sorry, write - is that I'm not giving up on my pretty project yet. It has been laying dead for a few -cough- months, but I'll be picking it up again as soon as possible.

The joys of a kimono

I've recently had a small obsession with Wa Lolitas - or kimono/yukata-wearing lolitas.

The thought of wearing a short, black yukata with a red hem and thick obi belt seems especially appealing after seeing this picture;

More Wa Lolita inspiration;

Outfit #1

Saturday, and a new excuse to wear a new dress.
While I was actually shopping for a winter jacket or coat yesterday, I instead came over this adorable zebra stripe print dress at H M, one of my favourite stores
as of lately. (I'm on a tight budget.)
Mum insisted I looked like a young secretary.

Blouse and dress from H M, six black plastic bangles, three black tights and a silver ankh pendant.
I also wore a black leather jacket from Carlings and light blue (but so dirty they look grey) converse shoes when I went down town.

Good;
♥ I think I suit darker greys. And black looks good on everyone.
Black and grey's a yay. No colour clash.
The dress managed to give stick-like me an actual figure.

Bad;
My breasts seems much smaller. I can't wear a t-shirt bra beneath this. Push-up please.
I had to keep fixing the shirt, so it wouldn't curl weirdly beneath the dress. Suppose I could have tucked it into the tights, but that would have made the tights more visible.
Too thin materials for snowy weather.

Possible changes;

- Polo neck sweater when it gets even colder. Preferably a long one.
- A blouse with 3/4 sleeves.
- Black blouse instead of white.
- Black nail polish!
- Push-up bra.
- A hip or waist belt.
- Patent pumps!

Sorry about the picture quality. I managed to move out the focus point while taking them and I only had two desk lamps. As a result of poor lightning, most the pictures went orange-ish because I refuse to use the flash.

Note to self; Buy a new lamp and a white sheet to use as a
background for the next pictures.

A slight introduction

Your mother used to say you looked like a little doll. Be a doll again.
~ Anna Sui.

Welcome to Doll-ishly, a fashion and inspiration blog.
My main topics are gothic (my interpretion of the term gothic is stylish, black, classic and tough - but still rather romantic), lolita and, though not as known and treasured as the Japanese lolitas, the western lolita fashions.

This is also an outfit and "obsessions" dairy, and I will try to keep a track of my own style and development by uploading pictures.
